HOW DO I BECOME A MEDIATOR?

  • Get Training (40 Hrs Basic Mediation Training plus Specialty Mediation Training see below) 
  • Get Supervised/Mentored/Coached (4 years)
  • Get Experience & Continuing Education (Observe, Co-Mediate, Volunteer, intern)
           Note: Many States, including Massachusetts, require up to 4 years of supervised experience before Confidentiality recognition.  
  • Develop your Style/Build your Brand
  • Keep Your Day Job - until you don’t have time for it

and Join the RI Mediators Association

 

Access to all membership levels the Rhode Island Mediators Association begins with signing up as a BASIC MEMBER and enjoying the benefits that membership brings. 

Once you join as a BASIC MEMBER, may be eligible, based on training and experience, to apply for: 

  • MEDIATOR PRACTITIONER membership  
  • ADVANCED MEDIATOR membership

Get Training

RI Mediators Association recommends completing a Basic Mediation Training in a recognized 40 Hour, compact, well-designed and staffed program.  This has become the Normative Standard in the U.S. for well regulated Mediator programs.
